In The Legend of the Five Rings: The Role-Playing Game, players embody characters whose honor and loyalty will be put to the test. Serving their lords as warriors, courtiers, priests or monks, they experience adventures filled with drama, suspense, humor, love and horror. At the same time, they must wrestle with their emotions, and choose between what their hearts dictate and what society (and the bushido code) dictates. This rulebook provides players and game masters with all the tools they need to tell dramatic tales in the Emerald Empire, and presents the rules needed to create a character sworn to serve one of the seven major clans, and to lead games of intrigue and conflict. A wide range of skills, techniques and characteristics allow players to customize their alter egos both mechanically and narratively. Thanks to a system based on special dice, players are able to contribute to the plot and choose whether their character succeeds, to what extent... and at what cost. As for the fantastic feudal world of Rokugan, it provides a splendid and majestic backdrop to these epics.
